All that scratchin is makin me itch

So I either lead such an exciting life that I don't have time to update my blog, or my life is so boring that  nothing in my life is worth sharing. I would like to think that it's the first, but as a husband and father with two young kids, it's most likely the second. Anyway, not much to share. The summer is coming to an end, and looking back, the Howard 2010 Summer went pretty well. I got to hang out with friends and family, my brother got married, and I had the opportunity to DJ a few parties that were pretty fun.

Since I'm not a fan of fall or winter, I've decided to schedule a few things that should make the next six months bearable:

September - I'm going to try and run the Warrensburg Half-Marathon. I found out about this race about a month ago. Although I haven't had the months that I would have liked to train for this, I think it might be fun to run my hometown (I know what you're thinking - "A half-marathon in Warrensburg? Are you running through the town 8 times?"). We'll see how it goes.

October - I am verbally committed to a marathon relay team for the Kansas City Marathon. I will only have to run 6.5 miles at most, so it shouldn't be too bad. I think the hardest part will be waiting the 4+ hours for my leg of the race to start (I've been slated to be the last leg of the race).

December - Jen & I are going to run the Las Vegas Rock N' Roll Half-Marathon. This should be fun; running the Strip in cool weather. Plus after the race, we'll be hanging out in Vegas.

Song of the day: The Incredible Bongo Band's "Apache". The first four measures of this song is one of the most sampled breaks in hip hop. I'm sure everyone has heard Sugarhill Gang's version, Grandmaster Flash's version, as well as Sir Mix-A-Lot's version ("Kansas City, Jump on it, Jump on it, Jump on it"). I first heard the Incredible Bongo Band's version on Fatboy Slim's "On the Floor at the Boutique" live album. This is one of those songs that you can't help but move to when you hear it. As an added bonus, the last half of the song (that starts at 2:23) provides over 40 measures of a break to scratch over, if you're into that (listen to DJ Qbert killin it here)
